Geoff Banks, Ph.D.
President & CEO, Clinical Pharmacology Consultant
Geoffrey Banks, Ph.D. is President, CEO, and founder of
ClinPharm Consulting and an experienced clinical
pharmacology consultant. Dr. Banks has over 10 years of
experience in large pharma, biotechnology, and specialty
pharma with an established track record of clinical,
regulatory and entrepreneurial success
within the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Banks has
extensive experience in planning, executing, and
analyzing Phase 1 studies as well as cross-functional
experience in strategic planning and execution of entire
drug development programs (from nonclinical IND enabling
studies through Phase 1 to late stage studies leading to
marketing registration). Having founded ClinPharm
Consulting in mid-2008, Dr. Banks has grown the company
from an individual consultancy to a leading clinical
pharmacology consulting firm with an expanding clientele
and employee roster through an inherent focus on quality
and cost-effective consulting services.
M. Alexander Shaw, Ph.D.

M. Alexander Shaw, Ph.D.
has been involved in basic, applied, and clinical
research, with a focus on research with biologics,
throughout his 15-year career. Dr. Shaw performed his
undergraduate work at Duke University, receiving B.S.
degrees in Chemistry and Biology, followed by graduate
work at Washington State University. He continued his
training as an American Heart Association Post-doctoral
fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. His 6 years
directing bioanalytical laboratories as a faculty member
at Thomas Jefferson University and as the National
Applications Laboratory Manager at Hitachi High
Technologies America highlight his scientific expertise.
Dr. Shaw is also an accomplished scientific and medical
writer, having contributed to wide variety of
regulatory, scientific, clinical pharmacology, and
commercial documents for industry and academia.
Bill Wargin, Ph.D.
Executive Vice President, Pharmacokinetics Chief
Scientific Officer
Bill Wargin received a Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics from
the University of Minnesota in 1978 and began his career
as an Assistant Professor at the University of North
Carolina School of Pharmacy as an instructor in clinical
pharmacokinetics. Dr. Wargin transitioned to industry in
1983 at Burroughs Wellcome (later Glaxo Wellcome) where
he held senior leadership positions in pharmacokinetics
and pharmaceutical project management until 2001.
Positions held at Burroughs Wellcome and Glaxo Wellcome
included International Director of Clinical Pharmacology
for Oncology, Anti-emesis & Anesthesiology and US Site
Director, R&D Worldwide Project Planning. Since 2001, he
has successfully consulted as a pharmacokineticist
focused on early phase pharmaceutical research and
development. Dr. Wargin has worked with over 80 clients
in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry and was
an expert reviewer for the Biopharmaceutics Branch of
the FDA. He is an author or co-author of over 30 journal
articles in pharmacokinetics/biopharmaceutics.
Steve Grossman, M.D.
Senior Medical and Clinical Research Consultant
Steven Grossman, MD is board
certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and has
the Specialist designation from the American Society of
Hypertension. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of
Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of
Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC where he serves as an
attending physician in the Hypertension Clinic and on
the Nephrology Consult Service. He served in a wide
variety of roles in clinical research at Burroughs
Wellcome, Glaxo Wellcome and GlaxoSmithKline for over 18
years primarily in cardiovascular and critical care drug
development. He was senior Medical Director at Lineberry
Research Associates/Constella Group for over 5 years
before becoming an independent consultant.
Dr. Grossman received a
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1969 and his medical
degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1973.
Upon completion of a residency in Internal Medicine at
MCV, he completed a Nephrology Fellowship at Duke
University Medical Center with additional post-graduate
work in clinical pharmacology. |
